On the right at the end of Rope Walk is a public House called Quigleys, it was built in 1695 as the Customs House. It was from here that the revenue men rowed out to meet in-coming ships to check their cargoes and search for contraband.
The Customs House was built on what, at that time, was the end of the quay which meant that it was the first building that visitors coming by river saw as they approached the town.
